I have loved railroads all my life.  A branch of the New York Central ran behind my home in Wheatfield, New York during my youth.  One train per day to work a quarry and Dougherty's Supply Yard in Pendleton, New York.  A diesel, several cars, and a caboose.

The old NYC yard west of Downtown Syracuse is about two miles from my home.  The Susquehanna now uses it.  At least several days a week tank cars or hoppers are on the viaducts that bridge South Geddes Street, a main drag that used to serve the yard and much Syracuse's old industrial center.  I love the geometry of the place.  I think this captures it.  The painting is based on photos I took on a splendid March day in 2022.
